How to Spend a Spring Weekend in Moore County

Spring is one of the best times to visit Moore County. The weather is warm, the pine trees are bright green again, and life around Pinehurst and Southern Pines slows down in the best way. Whether you’re visiting for golf, good food, or simply a quiet weekend away, the area is perfect for an easygoing getaway without feeling rushed.

Friday Evening: Arrive & Settle In

After checking in, ease into the weekend with a relaxed dinner nearby. Beefeaters is a longtime local favorite known for its classic steakhouse atmosphere and laid-back feel. For something more casual and outdoorsy, Red’s Corner in Southern Pines is a great spot to grab food, drinks, and enjoy the spring weather with live music and food trucks.

If you’d rather keep things simple, grab takeout from one of the local restaurants and enjoy your first night back at the rental. Many guests spend their first night simply relaxing at the house after traveling.

Saturday: Golf, Local Shops & Slow Afternoons

Start the morning with a coffee at the house and quick breakfast at Besty’s Crepes before heading out for a round of golf. Moore County is home to some of the best golf in the country, and spring is the perfect season to enjoy it. Courses like Mid Pines, Pine Needles, Southern Pines, and Mid South are all top courses and would be perfect options if you only had time for one round.

If your Pinehurst weekend is golf centered, maybe take advantage of the longer days in the sun and play two rounds. If playing 36 is more your speed, Pinewild Magnolia and Holly courses are the way to go. Two great courses in the same location making it easy to play a round, grab a bite, and start right back into the swing of things without having to go anywhere.

For a quiet afternoon, spend the afternoon exploring downtown Southern Pines or the Village of Pinehurst. Both areas are filled with small local shops, coffee spots, breweries, and patios that are perfect for a slow spring afternoon. Visit the Pinehurst pro shop or Thistle Dhu to check the iconic Pinehurst No. 2 Clubhouse off your bucket list and get a picture with the Payne Stewart statue on the back of the 18th green at Pinehurst No. 2.

You don’t have to overfill the day here. Part of the charm of Moore County is simply enjoying the slower pace.

Back at the rental, spend the evening outside enjoying the patio or pool if your home has one. Spring weather makes it easy to stay outdoors all evening, whether you’re grilling dinner, lounging poolside, or just relaxing after a day around town.

Sunday Morning: One Last Easy Morning

Before heading home, enjoy one last slow morning in the Sandhills. Grab breakfast or coffee nearby at Agora, take a walk through the Village of Pinehurst, or sit outside and enjoy the quiet before checkout.

A weekend in Moore County doesn’t need a packed itinerary to feel memorable. Between the golf, local restaurants, outdoor spaces, and relaxed atmosphere, Pinehurst and Southern Pines make it easy to enjoy a simple spring getaway.
